Charger IC – An Important Stuff for Mobile Charger

These days, we observe more and more electronic having the USB Type-C™ and USB Power Delivery (PD) ports available in the market. They start from mobile phones, laptops and power banks to power tools, drones, and smart home and moveable applications. The USB PD standard lets the transmission of high power after cooperation and shows new needs for what’s at the back of the port: the charger IC.

Initially, as a device, your tool should be able to talk the top voltage (5-20V) and current offered by the basis to charge the battery and offer power to the system. As a host, the tool should give the maximum voltage (5V-20V) and current from the battery in the on-the-go (OTG) way to minor devices.

For different devices with single- or multiple -cell lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery systems, a buck- enhance battery charger is a fine solution for compatibility with the needs as showed above. If the device is charging, a buck-boost battery charger can cash (step down) the source power to charge the battery if the basis voltage is higher as compared to the battery, or can start up the source voltage or else.

When offering the right power to the peripherals, a buck-boost charger can cash the battery voltage if the marginal device asks for a lower electrical energy, and enhance if the peripheral inquire for the better voltage.

Due to the short trip times, it’s suitable for users to purchase additional batteries and have multiple charging choices, from charging from the port on the buzz itself to make use of the cradle chargers inside the car or even at home.
